Big retail chains have branches in different places and they have a head
quarters to control these branches. The computerized data produced in these
branches have to regularly update with the parent server and also new business
rules being decided in the head quarters have to be sent to these branches at
no time.
The Business Communication Server is a data synchronization application, to
synchronize data from Point of Sale Back Office terminals to the Corporate
Server.
The server also sends business rule changes to the POS terminals as and when
synchronization is done. Backup channels are provided through Agents to allow
reliable synchronization to the server. Channel selection and period of
transmission are configurable in the POS terminals.
